We are delighted that Tanis Rideout will be part of the 2013 North Shore Writers Festival. Rideout’s stunning debut novel Above All Things traces George Mallory’s epic and ill-fated 1924 Everest expedition and a day in the life of his wife and family who await his return in England.
Tanis has been a finalist for the Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers and the CBC Literary Awards. In 2006, she was named Poet Laureate for Lake Ontario by Lake Ontario Waterkeeper. Tanis read a read a commissioned poem on Sarah Harmer’s I Love the Escarpment Tour and has been called the unofficial Poet Laureate of CanRock. She was born in Belgium, grew up in Bermuda and in Kingston, Ontario, and now lives in Toronto.
