North Shore Writers’ Association Announces 2013 Contest

Our friends at the North Shore Writers’ Association are sponsoring their 17th annual writing contest with more than $500 in prizes and publication! The winners will be announced at our Festival Reception on April 20th. Hurry, because submissions are due at the end of the month. Here are all the details:

Deadline:
Submissions must be in print and postmarked February 28, 2013

Prizes for each category:
1st Prize: $100.00 and publication
2nd Prize:
$50.00 and publication
3rd Prize:
$25.00 and publication
Honorary mention:
at the judges’ discretion

Winners will be announced at the North Shore Writers Festival reception on April 20th, and winning entries will appear in the 2013 NSWA Anthology

Categories:

Fiction: up to 2000 words per entry
Non-fiction: up to 2000 words per entry
Poetry: a submission of one to three poems constitutes one entry

Fee per entry:
$20 per entry for non-members, $15 per entry for members.
Please make your cheque payable to the North Shore Writers’ Association.

Submissions:
Include a separate cover page with your name, address, telephone, e-mail and titles of your entries. Do not show your name anywhere on your manuscript.

Your entry must be double spaced for prose, single spaced for poems. Use Roman font, size 12 on 8 1/2 X 11 inch, white pages. Submit unpublished material only and keep a copy. Manuscripts will not be returned. Blind judging is in effect. Winners will be notified at the beginning of June.
